Our Story

Rooted in Merzouga,
Guided by Nature

Our founder, Hamid Mezane, was born in Merzouga, a small Berber town on the edge of Erg Chebbi in south-eastern Morocco. He grew up in the Sahara, where a nomadic life with camels taught him to read the desert long before he ever carried a pair of binoculars.

He began guiding birdwatchers in the Moroccan Sahara in 2014, and Birdwatching Morocco Tours has been running high-quality birding trips ever since — from the dunes at home to the Atlas Mountains, the Atlantic coast and the far south at Dakhla.

Two things have never changed: we want every guest to share in the excitement of a top-notch birding adventure, and we want to give the best service we possibly can.
